Review Process
Here at Mac App Reviews, we try to be as objective as possible when reviewing applications. This means that we will hold all of our reviews to the same standard, and use the same criteria to review them. In order to do this, considering the fact that reviews are generally very subjective in nature, we will have three common criteria for reviewing items. We will rate the app on a scale of one to five on any one of these criteria
Interface
This is probably the most subjective category that we will be considering. Good applications tend to be nice to look at and are pleasant to use. We will try to strike a balance between distracting eye candy and a well laid out interface that is intuitive for users. Of course, screenshots will be provided to backup our claims.
Functionality
This category directly relates to the functionality of a product. We will try to judge this based on how the developers advertise their app. This is also very dependent on what functionality the main competitors to this app provide. Another factor is how well this functionality is implemented, both in a user-friendly sense and in the context of how other apps handle this function.
Value
This category is directly related to two things. First, what functionality does this app offer in relation to its competitors? Second, what is the cost of this app versus that of its competitors?
Based on these three factors, which are rated on a scale of one to five, we will calculate a final score for the app between three and fifteen. This final score will be rounded down to a five star rating which will be our final verdict on that version of the app.
